The greatest barrier to the full realization of human potential is our reliance on rudimentary inherited languages and by extension the primitive screen interfaces we use to interact with computers and the internet. Our languages and their ubiquitous media interfaces are so immersive that everyone using them is programmed to think, perceive and believe according to their seriously limited and flawed translations of systemic reality. As a result, it is very difficult to imagine a better way for human beings to communicate with each other and with computers, but that is exactly what I am inviting you to do. The emerging multi-disciplinary solution is the continued invention of dynamic systemic semiotics. WE ENCOURAGE YOU AS AN INDIVIDUAL OR ORGANIZATION TO PARTNER WITH US TO BUILD A NEW UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE AND INTERFACE FOR ALL THINGS COMPLEX USING A PROCESS SIMILAR TO THE INTRODUCTION AND EVOLUTION OF THE WORLD WIDE WEB. The study of cognitive semiotics and linguistics, computer sciences, media, along with the study of social sciences and neurological/sensory sciences, together, with diverse and inclusive input from around the globe, can provide the blueprint for the invention and ubiquitous adoption of a new representational language and computer interface capable of enabling participative accumulative knowledge synthesis and comprehensive systemic understanding. Our team has over the past 9 years developed a unique multi-disciplinary approach to this challenge and has defined enough breakthrough science to verify that today’s soft and hard technologies are capable, with your help, of bringing the invention of a new and better, higher functioning, language and multimedia interface to life and the world. We cannot teach, learn, think or act systemically, holistically, accumulatively or dynamically because the entirety of our communications from birth relies on a linear, corruptible uni-dimensional language incapable of representing the universe as the dynamic multivariate, multi-dimensional, transdisciplinary, multi-layered, multi-unknown construct that it is. Current languages and interfaces use words and word signifiers as narrow building blocks that cannot represent a whole view or thought until all of the blocks are in place, and even then, once the wall of current language is viewed or heard, the user is limited to a one or two dimensional form incapable of representing complexity, exchanges, interactions, relationships, proofs, context, alternative views and the inherent inadequacy of current knowledge - ever changing across time, space, state, validation, perspective and levels of detail. Douglas Rushkoff, the noted author and professor of media studies at The City University of New York, writes that a new internet mediated semiosis capable of communicating complexity and harnessing advanced mass communication toolsets is already emerging and is inevitable. SEE HIS ARTICLE IN OUR ABOUT SECTION. Inspired by Zlatev’s summary of the scope and mission of cognitive semiotics and by the recent cybersemiotic constructs of Brier and his call for the transdisciplinary emergence of a much enlarged, inclusive, multidimensional, multilayered time dynamic semiosis, I believe a natural and critical evolution of the fields of cognitive semiotics, computer science, education and digital media is toward the conception of a new digital “living” semiosis capable of extracting, accumulating, organizing, processing, synthesizing, storing, retrieving, representing and communicating a higher level multi-variate, transdisciplinary, multidimensionally autopoietic systemic that can become both iconic and universal. And at this moment, I am communicating to you, the reader, using primitive building block symbols and symbol sets that form learned meanings. There is nothing purely intuitive about this form of communication except for the fact that our sensory and cognitive functionalities enable us to seamlessly process these shapes and focus in on derived meaning, just like when watching television or movies we are transported, integrated, into the media, oblivious to what is around us. Here, the letters become noise, and the totality of shapes and context deliver the signal – autonomically. We can do much better. Each of us is tuned to a certain spectrum of sensory channels, portals linking ourselves with our world, and ourselves, through which we more strongly perceive, receive, process as signal, store and utilize stimuli. We consciously, subconsciously and even corporally process the meaning and context of everything through our language and all forms of embedded representations of meaning. We think, believe, gut react and communicate within and without according to our language and representations. I now ask you to reimagine the entire universe of human communications through our global project to hypothesize, prototype, test and ultimately deploy, like the World Wide Web, a unique representational multimedia language and interface that empowers everyone to better understand and apply complexity across the fabric of society. This effort would consist of applying Cognitive Semiotics, Computer Sciences, Media and other disciplines to the invention of a visual and auditory computer aided language capable of taming and harnessing complexity. Such a language would ignite a participative revolution in human thought and action, improving lives, saving lives, empowering humans to transcend the severe limitations of words. Semantics evolves into Dynamic Systemic Semiotics. ONE OF OUR FIRST GLOBAL PROJECTS IS THE INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL ALGORITHM SEMIOSIS (IMAS), WHERE WE AGGRESSIVELY MEDIATE THE ACCUMULATION OF MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE INTO A SINGLE DYNAMIC SEMIOTIC SYSTEMIC PLATFORM, COMPLETE WITH PROOFS, ACCUMULATIVE KNOWLEDGE CAPTURE, AND UP TO THE MINUTE MAPPINGS OF BEST UNDERSTANDING, PRACTICE AND PROGNOSIS. A new dynamic systemic semiotic language is not just an academic exercise even though it may evolve through academic institutions. A semiotic systemic multimedia language may be capable of surpassing all current forms of communication when it comes to: 1) complexity 2) extracting and communicating verifiable knowledge with alternate perspectives 3) synthesizing systemic understanding 4) understanding and operating any form of human system or enterprise 5) satisfying user objectives 6) interacting with a computing device 7) teaching and learning 8) creative expression Those who study cognitive semiotics, computer science, digital media, linguistics and other associated fields possess unique insights and experimental research protocols essential to the Communicating Complexity Project’s planned evolution of a robustly universal dynamic ontologically organized iconic pattern based semiosis capable of best signifying systemic meaning – with the semiosis driven by an interactive and accumulatively generative multimedia software engine. I propose we develop a universal friction free robust cognitively optimized “language” composed of synthesized systemic knowledge represented by intuitive dynamic semiotic forms that can be introduced and applied by anyone, regardless of inherited languages, cultures or educational levels. The purpose of such a semiosis is to receive, synthesize and deconstruct the noise of the world into reconstructed signals, meaning, through visual and auditory ontological pattern sets that address more wholly the constructs of knowledge, objectives and reality in context. I wish to provide you with a compelling argument about why your participation can be a critical element for the invention of a new, robust, scalable digitally aided semiosis, protocol, software engine, language, computer interface, multimedia form and toolset that tames the beast – complexity, and that reduces barriers to systemic understanding such as literacy, distinct global languages, educational attainment, digital access and the very primitive language form I am using now. THE OBJECTIVE IS NO LESS THAN TO REINVENT LANGUAGE, THE INTERNET AND THE LENS WE ALL CAN USE TO LIVE, LEARN AND PROSPER - THE KEY ELEMENTS ARE UNIVERSAL AND BENEFICENT - A SIMPLE INCLUSIVE SET OF CORE OBJECTIVES, PRINCIPLES AND STRATEGIES THAT GUIDE THE CREATION OF A DYNAMIC SYSTEMIC SEMIOTIC PLATFORM & TOOLSET FOR ALL TO USE. I encourage you to contact me for what should be an enlightening and provocative discussion. Alan SEMIOTICSYSTEMS AT GMAIL DOT COM Brier, S.
